The 1st Congress on Health in Emergencies and Disasters
The history of the first congress of disaster and emergency health management dates back to 2003, in which the Iranian Supreme Leader remarked on the involvement of Basij on the neglected issues on crisis management. Following that, the Medical Society of Basij considered disaster and emergency health management as an ignored issue and a decision was made to issue this topic on a country level congress. The first national congress was held on May 26-28, 2003 with the participation of more than 2300 faculties from medical universities, physicians and health experts from around the country.
